Recently, there was an incredible outpouring of generosity from our community in Australia, coming together to support the people of Lelepa Island in Vanuatu after the devastating earthquake that shook their land earlier this year.
Lelepa Island is a place of incredible beauty, but life there has always had its challenges—especially when it comes to accessing clean water. The community has no running water, so every day, the locals travel by boat to the main island of Efate to collect water from the streams and bring it back for their families. This daily ritual is their reality, a testament to their resilience and strength.
However, when the earthquake struck, the destruction was immense. Landslides made it even more dangerous and difficult to access these water sources. The already fragile water situation became critical. Seeing their struggle, we knew we had to act.
A Community United in Love and Support
Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our beautiful supporters, we raised $3,000 to support the Lelepa Island community. This incredible contribution has made a tangible, lasting impact—the funds were used to purchase a water tank, providing the community with a more sustainable and accessible water source. They now feel more reassured knowing they have a water tank on the island during times of deep vulnerability.
The gratitude from the people of Lelepa Island is beyond words. They are overwhelmed by the love and support from those who gave so selflessly.
